12/30/20 - This is a rare Walther P.38 with 480 code on slide and frame. The 480 code pistols were the first serially produced P.38s made by Walther. There were only 7,300 produced, and this one has the earlier, round lanyard ring. This one has matching numbers on the metal parts, but the grips are unmarked and the magazine is mismatched. It is, however, an early and correct example with serial on side of body and double E/359 proofs on spine. The pistol has original finish with some patina and thinning on the slide, and notable wear on the grip frame/trigger. Good mechanics, including de-cocker. Bore has strong rifling but minor freckling.
